Aashish Khan - Golden Strings of the Sarode
Aashish Khan, eldest son of Maestro Ali Akbar Khan, began his training in North Indian classical music at the age of five under the guidance of his legendary grandfather, Acharya Baba Allauddin Khan. He gave his first public performance at the age of thirteen. Since then, he has become one of the most distinguished musicians of our time, a worthy heir to the illustrious tradition of the Senia Bankar and Senia Rababiya Gharana, founded in the sixteenth century by Mian Tansen.
The three tracks recorded here are the afternoon raag "Bhimpalashri" (or Bhimpalasi), "Lalita Gouri", an uncommon raag that is only played at sunset (also known as Sandhi Prakash Raag) and "Bhairavi", a morning Raag
