Vocalist Pandit Prabhakar Karekar performs Ragas Bairagi, Madhuvanti, Malkauns, Sohni and Bhairavi. He is a familiar figure on the concert scene of Classical Music throughout India. An exponent of Gwalior and Agra Gharanas, amongst others, Pandit Karekar has imbibed the essence of various schools of music to form a style, all his own. The special nasal tone of his voice and his inclination towards lyrics of the bandish (composition) are unique to him. Connoisseurs regale in his mature renditions of the khayal as well as the emotional singing of thumris, dadras, bhajans and natya-sangeet.
