Here is another creative expression on the theme of rains. Like Megh our first album on this theme by Sanjeev Abhyankar, in Barish Pt. Ajay Pohankar has sung compositions reflecting different moods of monsoon. Just as there are different raags for different times of the day, in Indian Classical music there are also raags for this very special season. Some of the most popular ones being Malhar, (with all variations like Miya-Malhar, Gaur-Malhar, Megh-Malhar .. ) Megh, Desh, etc. All the compositions in this album are inspired by these monsoon raags.

A well-established name among the vocalists, Pt. Ajay Pohankar made his presence felt decades ago as a child prodigy. His training is Indian classical vocals began under the able guidance of this mother Dr. Sushila Pohankar, a representative of the Gwalior and Kirana Gharanas. He also had the good fortune of close interaction with some of the all time greats of classical vocalists like Ustad Amir Khan, Pt. Kumar Gandharva and was deeply inspired by them. He worked painstakingly for years and created a distinct style of his own. He has a rich voice and his mastered modulations express a wide range of emotions quite effortlessly. Apart from pure classical vocals, his renditions of light classical forms like Thumri, Dadra are any music lover's delight. He is open to innovations and the best example is a very popular album "Deeper Zone" where he has experimented with his son Abhijit on the Keyboards.
