Megh - Sanjeev Abhyankar
Rich, gray clouds, cool breeze, thunder, lightening... monsoon has been a source of inspiration for creative minds since times immemorial. Almost like a magician's wand, from the very fist shower it starts transforming whatever it touches. All of a sudden everything around becomes expressive, drenched with emotion. Tender blades of grass burst out of cracks of rocks, as if the entire creation is aroused from a state of slumber.
Indian classical music has various raags especially for this particular season. In Megh we have tried to capture different shades of emotions stirred by the rains with various compositions based on the monsoon raag-s.
Sanjeev Abhyankar
A well-established name among the vocalists today, Sanjeev's training in music started early in life. His mother Smt. Shobha Abhyankar was his first guru who introduced him to the world of Indian classical music when he was just eight years old. Later he trained under Pt. Pimpalkar and eventually was groomed by Padmavibhushan Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj. Sanjeev has the gift of a supple, sweet voice that glides effortlessly across the octaves, and, he knows how to use these assets to unfold and embellish the beauty of the compositions to the optimum. He is deeply influenced by his legendary guru Pt. Jasraj. However, he is far from being a mere replica of the maestro and leaves a lasting impression of his individuality using his own creative intelligence.
