PANDIT AJAY POHANKAR has been singing for over three decades. His training as a classical vocalist began at the age of ten, with his mother Dr. Sushila Pohankar, a renowned musicologist representing the Gwalior and Kirana Gharanas (or ‘families’) of music, and by the age of twelve, he was already attracting critical acclaim. Showing an equal mastery over the difficult khayal style and the lighter genres of thumri and dadra, Pohankar has performed extensively in India and abroad, winning many awards for his own, unique imaginative style of music.

SWATI NATEKAR was also groomed as a singer by her mother Dr. Sushila Pohankar and has sung classical, light classical, ghazal, folk and devotional music. She has been a performing ghazal artist for All India Radio for the last twenty years demonstrating a natural flair for the well-controlled delivery of poetic texts. Her recent work has included two tracks on ‘BEYOND SKIN’, a jazz fusion album from Nitin Sawhney and she has also sung a ghazal track composed by Muzaffar Ali on ‘PAIGHAM-E-MOHABBAT’ for Navras Records. She is currently a London-based performing artiste presenting a number of concerts ranging from classical to light classical and fusion music.
