Gianni Ricchizzi - VICHITRA VINA. The term Vina appears in the earliest musical literature of the Hindus. However, Vina (Veena) can denote any type of stringed instrument. Born in Barletta, Italy, in 1954, Gianni Ricchizzi represents a small but growing phenomenon: westerners who have successfully studied Indian classical music, to the point of being very accomplished performers.

On this CD, Gianni is accompanied by Giuseppe Fiore on Tabla, also from Italy. He studied under the late Badri Maharaj, who was a disciple of the great Benarasi Tabla player Kante Maharaj.
